    Description

This is an original civil war button worn on my ancestor's coat (William George Abney, 5th Virginia infantry) during the civil war. The button was removed from a civil war uniform and passed down through the years. It has the Virginia seal on the front. Around the rim of the front of the button it says "Virginia Sic Semper Tyrannis" . On the back, it says Scovill Mfg Co Waterbury. It was manufactured by this company which still exists in Connecticut.  Item #101
