Why I am selling these: My mother no longer wants them, and neither do I.
Description: This is a set of three pins formerly owned by my mother.
    FIRST PIN - QUAHOG/WAMPUM
This is a pin in the shape of a turtle.  My mother was given it as a little girl (in the 1960s), and it was purchased in a shop in Cape Cod.  The quahog or hard clam is native to that area, so it was most likely sourced and made in the United States as a regional product.  The oval piece of clam shell forms the shell of the turtle, with silver-tone metal head, tail, limbs, and prongs to set the shell piece.  The quahog is a pleasant striped purple and cream color.  The turtle's head, tail, and limbs are dotted with tiny scales.  The reverse side of the metal is porous.  The silver-tone base metal rolling safety clasp pin mechanism has been soldered to a central strip of metal backing, but there is an oval left unfilled so one can see some of the quahog from the reverse side.
    This pin has no defects.
Specifications: quahog (hard clam shell) pin with silver-tone base metal setting and pin mechanism, 7/8" across, 1/2" thick, 1 1/8" tall, 5.7g
    SECOND PIN
This is a pin in the shape of a turtle.  My mother purchased it on eBay sometime in the last fifteen years, but I believe it is older than that originally.  It has articulated toes, scutes (shell scales), and tiny scales on all its limbs, head, and tail.  It has two tiny round faceted green crystal chips for eyes.  The head moves from side to side as well.  The underside is textured and stamped "MONET C", with the C standing for copyright.  The rolling safety latch pin mechanism has been soldered on.
    This pin has no defects.
    Specifications: gold-tone base metal pin, 5/8" across, 3/8" thick, 7/8" tall, 4.0g
    THIRD PIN
This is a pin in the shape of a turtle.  I do not have idea how this one came into my mother's position.  I assume it is of Japanese or Chinese origin because it is poorly done; the paint is sloppy and the metal is cheap.  This turtle has a smooth shell except for brown spots around it, black paint spots on each foot, and red spots for eyes, one of which is badly misplaced.  The underside is hollow.  The rolling safety latch pin mechanism has been soldered on.
Besides being poorly made, this pin is heavily tarnished; in fact, the black paint spots on each foot may just be tarnish spots.
    Specifications: silver-tone base metal pin, 5/8" across, 3/8" thick, 1" tall, 4.1g
